About Rehearsal Footage

Rehearsal footage captures music in its rawest form — before the performance is polished, before the audience arrives, before anyone is watching. These clips often reveal how arrangements evolved, how musicians communicated, and how the versions we know were shaped through trial and error. Some of the most fascinating footage in the archive is of bands working through songs that would become classics.

About Mavis Staples

Mavis Staples is an American rhythm and blues and gospel singer and civil rights activist. She rose to fame as a member of her family's band the Staple Singers, of which she is the last surviving member. During her time in the group, she recorded the hit singles "I'll Take You There" and "Let's Do It Again". In 1969, Staples released her self-titled debut solo album.
